Peer Pressure
A downloadable game
How far will you go to belong?
Peer Pressure is a narrative-driven interactive experience that explores the emotional weight of fitting in, speaking up, and staying true to yourself. Set during the early days of college, you'll navigate new friendships, social situations, and the quiet tension that comes with wanting to be accepted.
Every choice you make shapes more than just the story.
Your choice influence:
- Trust - how others see and include you
- Guilt - the internal weight of going along or staying silent
- Emotional Maturity - your growth and sense of self
As trust builds, you are pulled deeper into group dynamics where the pressure to conform becomes harder to ignore. Stay silent, go along, or speak up. Each choice carries consequences that unfold over time.
This experience is not about right or wrong answers. It is about reflection.
*This game includes themes of peer pressure, social anxiety, and internal conflict.
Peer Pressure is designed to emphasize player agency through a choice-driven system where each decision directly impacts trust, guilt, and emotional maturity. Rather than presenting obvious right or wrong answers, the choice architecture encourages players to interpret situations based on their own values. This directly aligns with Murray’s idea of meaningful agency as the ability to take actions that have perceivable consequences. This is reinforced through proneutrality, as the underlying system tracks and responds to player behavior over time. It will gradually place them in more complex social situations as trust increases. The structure of the narrative supports immersion by using familiar and realistic settings like dorms, classrooms, and parties. This allows players to see themselves within the experience. Additionally, by tying internal states like guilt and emotional maturity to player choices, the game invites reflections. This aligns with Koenitz’s emphasis on how interactive systems can shape meaning through both mechanics and narrative. Overall, the design encourages players to not only make choices, but to think critically about why they make them and how those decisions shape their identity within the story
